Line up the cropper above the pile before lowering.
Pile cropping removes surplus concrete from the top of a foundation pile to the specified cut-off level. It is also called pile breaking, pile trimming or pile head reduction.
A hydraulic pile cropper applies force through cutting points around the pile. The method and equipment need to suit the pile construction and reinforcement detail.
The illustrated cropper aligns above a prepared pile, with the required cut-off level identified.
The cropper lowers around the pile, bringing its cutting points into position.
The four jaws apply force around the pile head to separate a section of concrete.
The separated section lifts over the debonded bars, leaving reinforcement exposed.
The animation explains one method on a prepared, debonded pile. It is not an operating procedure. Cropper selection, lifting and final trimming depend on the pile design and approved site method.
Choose from the Quad XL four-jaw cropper and our modular CFA system. Talk through your pile dimensions, reinforcement and excavator so the hire configuration matches the work.

FOUR-JAW PILE CROPPER
For suitable debonded round piles. NPC lists the Quad XL for a 750–900 mm pile range.

MODULAR PILE CROPPER
Round-pile configurations up to 1200 mm, plus square-pile configurations matched to your dimensions.

Pile Cropping Solutions offers equipment hire. Discuss the attachment and site requirements with us before arranging the excavator, operator and crew for your works.
These terms commonly describe equipment used to reduce concrete pile heads. When hiring, the machine type and its suitability for your pile matter more than the name. Confirm the pile construction, dimensions and reinforcement details.
We hire the Quad XL for suitable debonded round piles and a modular CFA system for round piles up to 1200 mm. The CFA system can also be configured for square piles. Share pile dimensions, reinforcement and spacing so the correct configuration can be checked. A 1200 mm round-pile capacity does not establish a 1200 mm square capacity.
The Quad XL and the lift-off sequence shown here are intended for suitable debonded piles. The modular CFA has different configuration options. Tell us whether the cage is bonded or debonded when discussing hire; the animation does not show every method.
Excavator weight alone is not enough to select an attachment. Provide the make and model, available hydraulic flow and pressure, connection details and lifting requirements. Compatibility must be checked against the actual cropper specification.
A useful quote depends on the selected cropper, hire duration, project location and transport arrangements. Have your pile schedule, site address and preferred dates ready, then call (08) 9303 4028 to discuss rates and availability.
Reduced Level describes an elevation relative to a datum. In this illustration, the cyan line marks the intended pile cut-off level. The required level on a real project comes from its drawings and survey information.
Yes. We provide equipment hire across all of Western Australia from our Gnangara base. Provide your project location and dates so transport, timing and equipment availability can be discussed.
Call (08) 9303 4028 with your project location, pile details, excavator information and dates. The hire checklist helps you prepare. Equipment suitability, availability, transport and hire terms are confirmed when arranging hire; downloading a brief does not make a booking.
